A very large Victorian fireplace surround in black slate, characterised by its architectural scale and clean, imposing proportions. A deep, bevelled shelf carried by supported by substantial jambs, each with deeply carved corbels.
The overall form is solid and rectilinear, typical of substantial late-19th-century interiors, and particularly well suited to rooms of generous scale.
