Antique Wooden Fireplace Surround

An antique mahogany fireplace surround in the Neoclassical style, featuring restrained architectural detailing.

The substantial moulded shelf is decorated with a continuous carved Greek key (meander), extending around the projecting corners. Below, a large recessed rectangular panel forms the central frieze, with a simple projecting shelf separating it from the fireplace opening. The opening is also framed with decorative mouldings.
