Antique Victorian Statuary Marble Carved Corbel Fireplace Surround

A substantial Victorian fireplace surround in white statuary marble with soft grey veining. The broad, moulded mantel shelf rests above a pair of deeply carved corbels decorated with ribbon bows, roses and foliage. Trailing vines and bunches of grapes are carved into the recessed panels below.

At nearly two metres wide, this is an imposing chimneypiece for a principal room in a period renovation.
