We have two highly carved Rococo style chimneypieces which have been crafted from Statuary marble in the Louis Pompadour style.
The shapely feminine fire surround is in the distinctive French Louis XV style with panelled frieze features, a carved shell to centre with flanked by trailing foliage. In addition to the serpentine shelf and the shaped opening, the jambs are accented by attractive acanthus leaves.
A very particularly fine piece, this pretty and charming fireplace is perfect for those looking to reinstall original period features.
