A handsome antique fireplace surround crafted from sandstone, dating from the late Georgian to early Victorian period, circa 1830–1850.
Of elegant architectural form, the surround features a plain frieze that spans across the full width of the panelled jambs.
The sandstone displays warm buff tones with attractive natural variation throughout, together with a well-developed patina acquired over many decades.
Its understated design allows it to sit comfortably within a wide range of period interiors, from Georgian townhouses and country homes to Victorian properties undergoing sympathetic restoration.
