PRODUCT ID: STIFF
We have 2 of these cream chimney stacks available, manufactured by J Stiff and Sons in the late 19th Century.
James Stiff, a former employee of Doulton, established his own business in 1842 making water filters in Lambeth, London. In 1863 he expanded the business with his sons to produce a range of stoneware urns and plinths. Though similar to Coade pottery, the clay body of items by J.Stiff & Sons is generally stamped with the makers oval shaped mark and is more yellow in colour. The partnership was dissolved in 1912 with the business sold to Royal Doulton in 1913.
This is a fantastic original piece, showcasing Lambeth as a place of importance in the early British ceramics industry.
Price is per chimney stack
