Exceptional Georgian Belgian Black Marble Fireplace with Original Cast Iron Insert

A striking and highly refined late Georgian fireplace surround, executed in Belgian Black fossil marble and retaining its original cast iron insert, a rare and increasingly hard-to-find complete survival.

The surround is beautifully proportioned, with a broad, understated mantel shelf above cleanly defined jambs, all cut from dense Belgian Black marble richly figured with natural and fossil inclusions.

The original Georgian cast iron register grate completees this piece, with geometric opening perfectly scaled to the surround. Its survival alongside the marblework is a significant advantage—allowing the fireplace to be installed as a complete, historically coherent ensemble rather than a pieced-together arrangement.
