Antique Cast Iron Register Grate with Ornate Detailing

A handsome late 19th century English cast iron register grate.

With a gently arched opening framed by moulded borders and large scrolling acanthus leaves to each corner. Classical flower-head paterae and further acanthus and foliate ornament decorate the apron beneath the basket, giving the grate considerable detail throughout.
