Reclaimed Westmorland Stone Fireplace Surround

With simple form and tapering jambs, this exremely handsom surround has ceen crafted from Westmorland stone, making it a very rare chimneypiece.

The understated design of this substantial piece allows the inclusions of this wonderful stone to be the feature of the surround.

Westmorland slate, is quintessentially British, having been quarried for over 400 years; the distinctive green colour is created from the metamorphosed volcanic ash of the Borrowdale Volcanic group of mountains in the heart of the Lake District. These deposits contain chlorides which impart a beautiful green colour.
