Antique Travertine Marble Bolection Fireplace Surround

A striking and rare antique fireplace crafted from Travertine marble, formed in the simple bolection design with a central carving.

The chimneypiece was reclaimed from Central London, Mayfair property. We also have available the original cast iron fireback that it was paired with. The antique fireback has stunning latticework.

The marble fire has some wonderful texture and grain running through the stone making this a very unique and feature-worthy piece.

The use of Travertine was popularised by the Romans who used the marble to create aqueducts, temples and amphitheatres; the Colosseum in Rome was constructed mostly of Travertine.

This cushioned profile bolection-moulded surround surmounts simple block ends.
