Antique Early Edwardian Slate Fireplace Chimneypiece With Corbels

An original early Edwardian fireplace surrounds crafted from black slate.

A very handsome antique fireplace with carved corbels with additional detailing to the lintel and jambs.

The use of slate is typical of the period as the black was used as a mark of respect to mourn the death of Queen Victoria.
