Antique 19th Century French Gothic Revival Stone Chimneypiece

An original mid 19th Century Antique French stone fire surround with intricate carvings.

Across the base of the frieze is a carved Latin phrase translating to "The lord will kindle a fire of love in us" derived from Catholic mass scripture.

Of significant height, this magnificent period piece is composed of several blocks of pale honey-colour French stone that create a gothic arched opening. The chimneypiece is surmounted by central corbel with deeply carved florals.

A very rare and spectacular piece, the chimneypiece can be viewed at our Hertfordshire warehouse.
