The integral fire insert is equally decorative, with a repeating geometric ground centred by a prominent floral rosette, while the fireback carries further cast ornament.

An unusually elaborate and beautifully detailed example of late Victorian cast ironwork, with the bold eagle and extensive naturalistic decoration making this a particularly striking design.
