PRODUCT ID: ANGELA
A fine original 19th-century antique fireplace surround, carved from richly figured Rojo Alicante breccia marble. A rare opportunity to acquire an original architectural piece from Cavendish Crescent, Bath. The impressive crescent of 11 townhouses was designed by John Pinch the Elder and is situated within the Bath conservation area and World Heritage Site.
The surround features full turned columns raised on square plinth blocks, supporting a well-proportioned entablature with a finely figured frieze.
The marble displays exceptional natural character, with deep oxblood and rose tones throughout, interspersed with abundant fossil inclusions typical of Rojo Alicante, giving the piece great visual depth and presence.
A striking and increasingly rare example of such a chimneypiece.
